Laura's meeting with Jennie and Graham on Friday went perfectly. It was such a joy to finally meet them! We have a full spring ahead of us--every weekend in April, May, June and most of July. We are excited to start sharing some of the inspiration behind these upcoming celebrations.
This next inspiration is for a fabulous Indian wedding we have in May. We are thrilled to have the dynamic duo at {Our Labor of Love} capturing this week-long celebration. P + C are such a gorgeous couple and the bride has exquisite modern taste. She wants something traditional for her ceremony for 600 and a switch to modern fantasy for the intimate reception. It's very important for me in every celebration I design to tell a graduating color story. I am particularly excited about this one. We'll be employing the use of rich scents and drama for the ceremony and move into a clean, organic, modern heavenly forest for the reception.
A note on the photo credits- these are images I've been sent, so I don't know most of their sources. I know the floral elephant is from the incredible Preston Bailey, the white rose petal cake pic on the bottom left is from the fabulous Anna Kuperberg, the blooming tree on the bottom right is from our friend Michelle Rago, the floral curtain and the white box centerpiece in the third image board are from our own weddings, and the sweet buffet was created by the phenomenal Amy Atlas.

An exciting element about the reception will be intimate canopies set up inside the grand ballroom. These little tucked-away spaces allow guests to really relax and enjoy each other's company. The most memorable times for me at weddings are seeing guests truly transported. When you see in thier eyes that they have been swept away by the atmosphere and the love reflected in it, there's no better reward for all the hard work that goes into planning a wedding celebration. In these lounge areas, a few colorful monogrammed pillows go a long way to personalize the space (and make a great gift for the couple after the big day).

I love the cocktails above. A great bartender knows how to garnish and great glassware goes a long way to make guests feel special. Break out of the norm and serve something fresh with a little kick-- cucumber martinis with a cayenne infused simple syrup, spiked key lime granita, or crushed mint mojitos with sugarcane straws.... perfect to cool guests from the FL May heat and get them back on the dance floor!

This wedding will be all about layering and texture. We'll use various whites, clear glass, water, floating elements and candlelight to create depth and detail. The pic on the top right of this board was P's whole inspiration for the reception. The dance floor will be lined with towering white birch trees flooded with blossoms and candles and the newlyweds will dine under a canopy made from four of these intertwining blooming trees. The glowing white acrylic DJ booth will also be nestled in a birch canopy for an ethereal, heavenly night club effect. I can't wait to put this all together--so magical!

As always, these images are purely for inspiration. The real design comes straight from the couple's love story. Details don't mean a thing unless they reflect who you are together, your families and your future. Stay posted for more details and inspiration to come from P + C and all about our meeting with them in Florida next week. We can't wait to see you!
